The best facilities for snowmobiling in the Kolovesi region are in Heinävesi. As a result of the work done by active snowmobile enthusiasts over 160 kilometres of well-kept routes are maintained in the municipality. A connection to the routes of Savonranta and Kerimäki is also maintained, via the latter municipalities of which it is even possible to gain access to the extensive route network of the province of North Karelia.
Kuikka Koposen Kiemurat – which is what the Heinävesi route network is called – runs through rolling, forest-clad scenery, crossing a frozen lake every now and then. The route passes many of the best known sights of the region, such as Valamo monastery, the Kerma rapids and the Pääskyvuori outlook tower. In addition to this, several lay-bys and rest stops, equipped with the facility to make a fire and enjoy the heat it provides in the midst of the most beautiful winter nature. Safety has been a primary issue in the planning of the route. Kuikka Koposen Kiemurat is an official snowmobile route network. It has been clearly marked both on the map and in the wild and it is maintained by regular dragging.
